The DWN Podcast | The Green-Eyed Monster
Hey Fam!
This week on the Daze with Nola Podcast, we discussed our old friend “Envy.” Here are the show notes with the main key points and references I used to help flesh out this episode. For a full scope on the topic, listen to the Daze with Nola podcast on Spotify & iTunes.
What is Envy?
Envy is defined as an emotion which "occurs when a person lacks another's superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it". Aristotle defined envy as pain at the sight of another’s good fortune, stirred by “those who have what we ought to have.” Envy is also related to depression, anxiety, the development of prejudice, and personal unhappiness. In simplistic terms, Envy is a reaction to what you lack.
How can we identify envy?
By asking ourselves a few simple questions and by choosing to answer them honestly.
How can we stop being envious?
Through some research, I compiled a few tips that may help you in this area.
What’s the root of the envy?
Focus on your good qualities + the goodness in your own life
Spend time comparing less
Celebrate other people when good things happen to them
Change your circle - to change your life
Bonus Tip - limit how much time you spend on social media
At this point in the episode, I dived into my own struggles with envy and how by realizing nobody’s life is perfect and by staying busy in my own lane of life, I was able to be happy with my own portion of life all with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Do you love you? (Self-Care tip of the week): Family time
Bible Verse of Today: Ecclesiastes 3:1 --- “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die…” This reminded me to stand on the truth that everything that is for me will come my way in its proper time.
