Celebrate your victories

Bible Passages

Nehemiah 12:27-47

At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, the Levites were sought out from where they lived and were brought to Jerusalem to celebrate joyfully the dedication with songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals, harps, and lyres. 28 The musicians also were brought together from the region around Jerusalem—from the villages of the Netophathites, 29 from Beth Gilgal, and from the area of Geba and Azmaveth, for the musicians had built villages for themselves around Jerusalem. 30 When the priests and Levites had purified themselves ceremonially, they purified the people, the gates, and the wall...(you can read the rest here).

1 John 5:4

4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

Romans 8:31-32

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

1 Corinthians 15:57

57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:13

13 No temptation[a] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[b] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[c] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

My thoughts

As we go through life, we can become easily consumed with focusing on the next big thing that “needs“ to happen. But what if we shifted our perspective and choose to be present and revel in all the good around us? What if e looked to our past to see what we’ve already accomplished?

God has been showing me that I have become so consumed with accomplishing the next big thing that I’ve been rushing a whole bunch of areas in my life. He’s shown me how necessary it is to slow down and take a look at where I was and where I am—mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

  • I am changed. I have changed. I am changing.

  • I am grown. I have grown. I am growing.

  • I am healed. I have healed. I am healing.

How I view things has shifted, how I respond has shifted, even how I just am has changed. I feel like my energy has gone from frantic to solid. Anxiety has no hold on me. We can get so consumed with “grinding“ and “hustling“ that we forget to LOOK UP and see all the god has been done for us or through us. Let’s be present today and look back to celebrate past achievements.

Even if it feels like you have nothing to celebrate, remember that the littlest of things count!

  • You can read this.

  • You’re breathing.

  • You have a pair of shoes.

  • You have ears to hear.

  • The sun greets you every single day.

  • Jesus died for you because God loves you.

Whatever life brings you this week, try to focus on the things that are going well. It’s too easy to focus on what we don’t have yet. It’s too easy to compare yourself to people on Instagram. It’s hard to take a deep look at your own life and choose to celebrate. Focus on your own lane and celebrate this week!

Question

What is something that you can celebrate this week?
