Faves | 5 Books I’m Reading in 2020

The Bible

I want to challenge myself to read the whole Bible. I think I was 13 or 14 when I attempted the first time and then I was 20 and 21 when I tried again. In both cases, the tediousness of Numbers and the scariness of Revelations left me bowing out gracefully with heart palpitations lol. If you know of any Bible reading challenges please share them in the comments below 😊

The Whole Woman

This past fall, at the PIA: Poets in Autumn tour I won this lovely book. I absolutely love the Azonwu's and I know this book will bring a lot of wisdom, grace and truth when it comes to being whole.

Jazz

In 2019, I've read over 5 of Toni Morrison’s books, watched old interviews on YouTube and watched her documentary The Pieces I Am. I am definitely obsessed with this phenomenal writer. She would wake up before the sun to write some of the world’s greatest African American novels. Then she would set off to mom life and then off to her 9-5 editing job!

Prude : Misconceptions of a Neo-Virgin

Carrie writes in an eloquent way that captured my attention immediately after reading the short sample of this book. Carrie delves into purity, dating, sex and many other topics that are usually skirted around by believers.

Homegoing

In this book, Yaa Gyasi follows the generations to come of two sisters. It’s a book about loss, choices and how the past affects today, always.
